Are 20 minute workouts any use?

I get that any exercise is good but when I first stated with exercise, everything was a round an hour. With hiit etc, we are encouraged to do short and intense workouts.

I am time short and get bored easily so short workouts suit me. Since lockdown ended my gym time I have been doing a 20 minute workout every day, mixing it up between hiit, hiit step, conventional step aerobics, spin style workouts on my exercise bike. I also do a weekly Pilates class and cycle a few times a week with the kids.

Is this a reasonable amount of exercise. I am trying to up my game and to lose weight but I love the fact the workouts are quick and easy to fit in my day and I am more likely to do them because of this.

What do people think? Do I need to increase the time?

I've lost quite a lot of weight over the last 2 years. I'd being playing sports and I have a cross trainer I used when I wasn't playing. When lockdown came I managed about 2 weeks with only the cross trainer before the boredom set in! Since then I've been alternating between longer cross training sessions, and HIIT sessions on different days. Often with dumbells. My weight loss had also hit a plateau so I needed a change. Whilst I can't say I've lost masses more weight (5lb lighter since lockdown) my body shape has changed a lot. My arms arm legs are more defined and toned and the belly fat that wasn't moving is definitely on the decline. So I can't offer a professional opinion but that's my experience Smile

If your goal is weightloss, then probably not, to be honest. Losing weight is more about eating less than doing more, unfortunately!
