Fit bit or Apple Watch??

I'm thinking of treating myself to a fitness tracker, maybe either an Apple Watch series 3 or some type of Fitbit. What do you recommend?
I would mainly like it for:
Counting steps
Recording a workout
Heart rate monitor
Sleep tracker

Neither, had both but prefer my Suunto.

@normalmumandwife could be that. I've not been using my phone with it, so not sure about the GPS, but I set it to track a run. Then anywhere from 2-5 mins in it just crashes, and very slowly restarts. Then have to restart tracking but by that point lots of my data is lost. Sometimes it crashes again during tracking after restarting, other times not. Such a pain and infuriating they know about it but still aren't releasing an update to fix it!

I’ve got the Fitbit 2 and had it for about 3 years, I can track workouts (running, weights, workouts. Cross trainer and cycling I think). I only really use these functions so that works well. I can count steps, monitor heatbeat etc, it also tracks sleep but I can’t wear it to bed, i find I get a rash if I sleep in it, I think because when you move in your sleep it can rub which means I then have to take it off for a few days to let my wrist heal. I doubt my Fitbit is 100% accurate, but it cost maybe £80 and I’ve had it 3 years. Battery lasts about 5/6 days and can quickly be charged. I also have really small wrists and think Apple Watch is just to big. I know the Apple Watch has more functions but depends on what you want from the watch.

Love my Apple Watch, and imo it looks smart enough to wear as an every day watch. I had a Fitbit but it looks a little naff in comparison tbh.

I love my Apple Watch. I had 2 fitbits before that and both broke within a year. Apple Watch has been far sturdier. It doesn't track sleep, but I'd rather not know how little sleep I'm actually getting so not a problem for me!

My Apple Watch tracks sleep but if I remember correctly it's from an app that was suggested. The only issue though is that I find I need to charge it every day and sleep time makes the most sense for me to do this

If you are an iPhone user then the added connectivity benefits of the Apple Watch make it unbeatable. If not, Garmin is a good alternative. Fit bits seem to break easily

@Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel - with that user name and a preference for Suunto, I’m now as a hard as nails trail runner!

XH has a Fitbit; which is enough to put me off forever; ditto his preferred brand of trainers - shallow? moi?

I have a fairly basic Garmin, which does everything I want it to. I do keep entering competitions for higher spec ones as a girl can dream...

Oh FFS - try that first para without typos!

@Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel - with that user name and a preference for Suunto, I’m now picturing you as a hard as nails trail runner!

Garmin!

I love how easy it is to use and very quick to sync.

Mine doesn’t have gps, unlike most but I can use my phone. I was worried about giving up my lovely watch for a bulky alternative but it looks ok I think.

There are some very expensive Garmins that also good great.
