I'm thinking about buying a Fitbit but any other recommendations? Do people think they're worth the money?

I think it depends what you want it for? I had a Fitbit and it was definitely an encouragement to up my steps, but I don't think it did much for my fitness. I've had an Apple Watch now for nearly 3 years and I find it better - it tracks more exercises and is focused on a series of goals rather than just steps, plus there's the general Apple interaction.

But overall, fitness trackers are really just nudges to get you moving, if you're likely to ignore them, they won't change anything.

I've just started doing exercise at home and thought it would be a bit of encouragement to keep going if you can see some results from it

This isn't exactly a yes or no question and experience is certainly one that many people will share. That said, to me it was quite worth it.
