How much can I excercise? (High BMI but want to change that)

I have a high BMI (38) but with lock down thought that I could use the time wisely and do YouTube exercises.
Ive done Joe Wicks every day and then a fairly gentle dance video yesterday.
How much can I do a day without doing myself an injury or just being silly?

At this stage I’d keep any HIIT workouts to about 30 mins every other day to avoid injury. You could try Kayla Itsines Sweat App, you get a 7 day free trial and it has a beginners section. I’d then do yoga or Pilates for strength and recovery on the others days. Maybe try 30 days yoga with Adrienne.

What you don’t want to do is go in all gyms blazing and hurt yourself.

It is worth noting though that you will have to assess your diet if you want to loose weight.

Thanks Pud, diet is well and truly assessed, plus I think Ive lost my raring appetite due to stress.
Pilates seems like a good idea, I keep hearing things about it.
Thanks for replying, any other thoughts also welcome? (Could weights help? I haven't got any but could lay my hands on a couple of tins of soup).

I’d leave the weights until you can get to a gym as it’s lifting heavy weights that really makes the difference. Pilates and yoga use your body weight to strengthen you which is good to build up a baseline strength. I do a 20 min beginners Pilates workout on YouTube by Kait Coates which I enjoy. It’s short but I haven’t managed every exercise yet!

Hi I started in January with bmi of about 35, down to 32 so far.

Are you able to get out for about 30mins?
If you can I recommend trying c25k.
Before I started the programme I spent about 4 weeks doing 5k walks 3 times a week then added a bit of jogging if I felt energetic.
Then I started the programme and it really is amazing the difference in my fitness.
I’ve been doing joe wicks HIIT programme about 2/3 times a week too. His beginner ones are good to get you into it.
