Another month of setting goals and keeping moving
My goal is 20 activities this month

:) I’m in!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 01/03/2020 16:06

Good to see you Buddha

Pleased this thread was created and happy to jump back in.

I had 3 rest days in February and was happy with that. Strongest start to the year ever after Red Jan. Want to do something the majority of March (especially as my holiday is the start of April!) but will to have Sunday's off lol

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 01/03/2020 18:38

More the merrier
I have got back on track after a poorly January
Also I'm quite hard on myself so actually having a record of what I've done means I can see what I'm actually doing and often it's more than I think

"20 activities in 31 days" sounds a lot more reasonable in my head than "exercise 5 days a week"! I'd love to join please.

  1. Today we went for a good stomp around a farm park. DS2 finally gave up and went up on DHs shoulders. The same offer apparently wasn't open to me Hmm
hobnobsaremyfavourite · 01/03/2020 18:54

Come and join us
I'm finding having targets very helpful
And breaking it down makes it seem doable

I took the dog for a long walk today, after work. I planned to go for a run as well, but I took a nap...till 6.30 pm. I needed it through.

Do we count walking for 2h as exercise? My heart rate didn’t go up at all, we had a nice stroll in the sun.

I’ve been neglecting my swimming now for a few weeks, so the plan tomorrow is body pump and a swim :)

ivykaty44 · 02/03/2020 07:56

When you say 20 activities, what can they be?
A 25 minute walk to work? Another 25 minute walk at the end of the day? A gym session? Gym class?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 02/03/2020 08:52

Anything you want
I'm not counting my walks to and from work but will add the distance at the end
But that's just me
In January I was poorly so it was just about the only thing I did walking to and from work
It really is an individual thing
My activities tend to be gym session or a run
And as I keep telling myself every little bit adds up and counts

I write my exercise (and any weekly weight loss) on my calendar and just have a visual thing there to help encourage me. I like to write something on it every day even if that's "rest day" lol so I know where I stand.

I don't count my walking within work (I work a lot for work) but anything extra on top of that I do but on a weekend it could be as simple as going for a walk (because previously I was purposely sedentary so this is improvement!)

I've got a nice routine of running, gym classes and home work outs (les mills on demand) going at the moment and love the variety.

BuddhaAtSea · 02/03/2020 13:09

2/20 done, I did a body pump class this morning. Later on I’m going for a run :)

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 02/03/2020 20:06

Number one done
5k run

OP posts:
BuddhaAtSea · 02/03/2020 21:52

I joined you @hobnobsaremyfave, I just did 5k.
How do you guys get over the sheer mental drudgery of just running?
Say, I do a park run, I have a ‘plan’, I’m following someone, I’m watching my lap time etc.
But if I’m on my own....I want to give up after 3k, I’m bored of it....

I am so fed up with being cold and wet, like you won’t believe it. But I signed up for 10K in May, I want to do it in an hour. So I need to train. Club on Mondays, parkrun on Saturdays, in between I could do a couple of training session on the treadmill. I tried once or twice, I was really really bored.
How do I get over the mental block? My legs are fine, I don’t hurt at all, I can just keep going. It’s my mind I’m struggling with.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 02/03/2020 22:02

For me it's the sheer mindlessness of it that I love
My job is very mentally draining
Lots of emotional issues to deal with, home life hectic
One foot in front of the other and just focusing on my surroundings is my kind of "mindfulness " if you like
I have a couple of set loops that I run so giving up isn't an option as I have to get home
That's what I enjoy about exercise
Just thinking about how many steps to
Take or reps
To do

OP posts:
hobnobsaremyfavourite · 02/03/2020 22:04

Oh and I never run on a treadmill
Deadly boring
Gym is for weights, classes, resistance stuff
Running is for the view
Hence why I've barely run this year due to the weather
Hopefully things will improve as spring arrives

OP posts:
BuddhaAtSea · 02/03/2020 22:35

@Hobnobsaremyfave exactly. Laps, reps, whatever, it punctuates the whole thing. But on the treadmill....

ivykaty44 · 03/03/2020 09:39

Ok

Sunday 1st- spin & 35 minutes weights session
Monday 2nd -walked 3 miles
Tuesday 3rd- spin & 35 minutes weights session

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 03/03/2020 19:53

Gym session tonight
So that's two down
Tired today so it was a struggle

OP posts:
BuddhaAtSea · 03/03/2020 20:30

3/20 done tonight, boxercise or something, it’s like circuits. Love it cause it’s 45 seconds on each station: over before you know it.

Tomorrow I plan to run to the gym, do a spinning
class then run back. To the gym and back it’s just under 5k.

@ivykaty44 do you do virtual spinning?
@hobnobsaremyfave but you went anyway. You would have felt worse if you didn’t, so kudos to you :)

BuddhaAtSea · 03/03/2020 20:33

Scrap that, there isn’t a virtual spinning class tomorrow, I’ll run round the block. I can’t do parkrun this Sat anyway, I’m working.

ivykaty44 · 03/03/2020 20:36

BuddhaAtSea

I really do spin, nothing virtual about it whatsoever. My lungs were bursting this morning so they can vouch for me 🤣

BuddhaAtSea · 03/03/2020 21:09

😂😂😂 no, virtual spinning is when you have a screening front of your static bike. A bit like peloton, but at the gym.

That’s really funny 🤣🤣🤣

BuddhaAtSea · 03/03/2020 21:10

*screen in front of you

ivykaty44 · 04/03/2020 06:07

Oh 😂 so a virtual spin instructor 👩‍🏫 nah we have a selection of very good spin instructors that come to the classes. They are all different and do some fabulous sessions. Some get us racing against each other through the class on sprints etc with your bike number in the screen you can see who has won individual sprints and where you have placed. Watts challenge and FTP sections (functional test to measure fitness) all good for making a class whiz by & good music

sar302 · 04/03/2020 13:19
  1. Toddler class followed by 30min walk.
Hoping to get to the gym tomorrow while DS is at nursery.
