How do you fit exercise in?

Hi all

I'm going to sit down and work out some set days that I can set aside an evening or an hour in the weekend to exercise. I used to be pretty fit before having my 2 year old and now it seems impossible to fit anything in 😂

I work 4 days a week with a commute, my day off is with my daughter doing classes etc. Evenings are then dominated by me trying to get through a 20,000 word dissertation before May to finally finish my course. If not that it's sorting stuff out for the house extension we have going on right now and weekends are just full of family things and if not that my husband is usually on call for work so I generally always have our daughter!

I am going to set one evening a week aside for exercise, I'd love to tone up before we start TTC #2

How do you supermums fit it in? Love to hear your hectic stories!

@mclover - when I had a longer commute I used to run sections of it. Would it be do-able to get off the train/bus/whatever a stop or two early and run or cycle the rest?

It takes some organising with carrying kit, but once you're into a routine it gets easier IME.

I exercise in the morning before everyone else is up. But it's at home ( I follow yoga with adrienne). I wouldn't be able to fit in anything else.

I get up at 5am, do 30-45 min bodyweight. If any of the kids get up, they crawl in with my partner or watch me (they're so used to it, they don't get in the way anymore). We leave the house at 7am. On Saturdays my partner takes the older two to his personal trainer, while I have an online coach (video call) at home while the youngest plays Lego. Usually going for a run on Sundays while partner watches the kids.
My house is not very tidy though, somethings got to give

I've recently started using the fit app. You can do training plans or join live classes where you're up against other users in a leaderboard. 20 quid a month...but better for me as I work FT and find it hard getting to gym as I'm a single parent.

I've been doing 25 or 40min classes daily, either early at 5am or while dinner is cooking etc. Maybe something like that could be an option.

@Runningonempty84 I wish but I have to be at work by 9 and only just make it by the skin of my teeth as it is once I've dropped the kids off. I don't drive so I get exercise by walking everywhere but my work is 10 miles away so have to get the train

So when DH is on call you could go jogging, or to a class, if he gets called out he can wait 30 mins or whatever!

Any local family who would have DD for an hour occasionally on weekends?

inwood · 25/02/2020 10:26

I go to 6am weekday classes

ImRealHonest · 25/02/2020 10:27

5:30am class, 5 days a week.

I’m ashamed to say I could easily fit exercise in but at the moment I do absolutely nothing! Keep wanting to start Box Fit but I have a neck injury ( minor) so that will have to wait. Once the weather finally improves, I’m going walking. Lucky enough to live in Cornwall so we have beautiful scenery on our doorstep. I enjoy swimming too so will start that again with DD11. I worry that she doesn’t do enough exercise either.

Walking is great, no need to wait for good weather!

Swimming good too.

omg, 5:30am: how many people attend that class, what is it?
