Bike lights for seeing, as well as being aeen

I’m going g to start riding home from work, and some will be on unlit (busy) cycle paths.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good front light to light the road for potholes etc, as well as being seen by others?

A chat with your local bike shop is probably in order. I knew someone who cycled in rural Devon who had lights bright enough to make cars dip their headlights! Not cheap though.

I have cat eye and it's bright. I needed a good light for rural lanes and potholes.

Lezyne in front, probably in back, too.
Audax lights are too bright, imho.
A lot of cyclists swear by a headlight lamp (as well as a light on bike).n

I commute on unlit roads/tracks all year round and have these.

lights

Work well.

I have a USE exposure Sirius. It’s USB rechargeable, so ideal if you are office based. It clips on and off the mount really easily, so ideal if you leave your bike locked up anywhere. The mount it clips into is also easily removable, so ideal if you swap between bikes. It fits really securely and won’t jump out if you hit a bump. It’s sufficiently bright to illuminate the unlit, potholed country lanes I ride on. It has three brightness settings and a flash mode. I always have the Sirius for seeing, a second cheaper light on the bars flash mode to ensure I’m seen and a helmet mounted light on flash to catch drivers attention if I’m passing a junction or on a roundabout.

Christmas is coming so there are lots of cute things you can get to bling up your visibility on the bike. Like spoke reflectors... things that clip onto the air valve... reflectors, wheel lights, etc.
