I just Jeffed!

I am very ancient and unfit. I WANT to be a good runner but I really struggle with it. Well today I programmed my app for 30 sec intervals, 30 walk 30 run and I did 5k about 2 minutes slower than when I was struggling through Cto5k! And I almost enjoyed it! Feel tired now but not destroyed like i used to after a run!

Disclaimer- I'm really really slow, about 40 mins for 5k

Well done!

It doesn't matter how long it took you - a 50 minute 5k is the same distance as a 20 minute 5k

I completed C25k in October, although only got to 4.1km in 30 mins. Tried jeffing and managed 5.1km in 32 mins, I found it so much better than continuous running. Does this count as being a runner?

Oooh!! I'm slow like you OP but I love running. I did the Great South Run last month & reeeally enjoyed it, even if it did take me over 2 hours!

I am so close to signing up for a half, & thought I might try Jeffing in training... Is there a website/app?

I worked out my 'magic mile' on the Jeff Galloway website then it gave me my ratio - I'm slow so it was 30/30 or even 20/30. I have a friend who does 2 mins running and 1 min walking. I love the fact that i only have to run for 30 secs! I use the interval training setting on Map My Run to get my alerts.

There's a Facebook group called girls that Jeff. I do a 30:30 interval sometimes. Great time well done.

"Jeffing" is basically run/walk method. The guy who did a lot to publicise is is called Jeff Galloway. So you run for, say, 2 mins and walk for 30 secs, repeat. It's a less intense form of running. I have a back injury so its ideal for me.

That sounds good. I didn't know it was a 'thing' - when I 'run' it's what I do, more or less. I was using a Tabata timer app which had some intervals which I found ok.
