Recovery after endurance event?

DH did an endurance event this weekend and is feeling awful, nauseous, headachy, got a fever within hours of finishing etc.

He’s drinking water and electrolyte tabs but feels too sick to eat. He’s sleeping right now but just wondering if he can do anything else to feel better?

I suspect rehydrating, eating some carbs and protein, and plenty of sleep is all he can do? When should I worry about this fever?

Sounds like he may be coming down with something as fever not normal consequence

Probably you will get more responses on a fitness forum.

As soon as he wakes up he needs to eat - I’ve been like this after a marathon and it really is forcing food down and ignoring the nausea. Once he’s got some nutrients on board it’ll ease.

Thanks so much @SandunesAndRainclouds, he’s eaten now and drunk some Lucozade and water and feels loads better. His body feels broken in half he says so imagine that will take a few more days!

What kind of endurance even did he do, how far, how many hours, what was his body doing?

DH does endurance stuff often, I know channel swimmers, they didn't react like OP describes.

I’ll PM you if ok @EsclavadeGatos

My husband has just fine Equinox 24 this weekend which is 10k race continuous for 24 hrs. Came home yesterday and was absolutely bushed, said he had a scary moment at 2am when he just saw stars whilst running.

Had a nap at 3pm when he got home yesterday and then all night was drinking lucozade and sweets. Said it broke him and not doing it next year
