Most accurate step counter?

Looking to buy a Fitbit type thing, as walking is my main activity I really want one that's good at tracking steps but I've looked at loads on Amazon and the reviews always seem to complain about step accuracy!

Anyone got a model they can recommend that's accurate?

I have a fitbit Charge 2. It is good for giving me a rough idea of how active I have been (and heart rate). But because of what they measure, no step counter is going to be that accurate IMO. GPS devices are measuring something else. I find my fitbit fine for daily activity and walking - pretty consistent, certainly enough for a bit of light motivation - and it is small and easy to use and not expensive. And I use Strava on my phone for running which actually maps the route - I could use this for proper walks too if I wanted.

I had a Fitbit Alta (which DD now wears), and now have an Apple Watch. Their results were pretty similar. But I find counting steps quite an arbitrary measure of fitness, and prefer my Watch's focus on amount of time spent with an elevated heart rate. But it is interesting seeing changes in step count (work days very low, sight-seeing holidays immense!). If you carry your phone most of the time, that will give you an estimate of steps too if you just want to try that for a bit?

I’m not sure if you are looking for a watch but I have a Omron step pedometer and find it really good. I often test it by counting my steps and comparing and it is very accurate. I have had it for about 4/5 years and it’s still going strong. I clip it on my trousers and forget about it.

I have had used a watch but found that because I use my hands a lot it was very inaccurate.

I have the Fitbit Versa and it seems good?
