Which are the best baby swimming classes?

Hello,

I have a 6 month old daughter and really keen to start her in some swimming classes - mainly to build her confidence but also looking to get her comfortable with her head underwater (for short periods obvs!). I work full time during the week so need a weekend slot.

There's a hydrotherapy pool near me which has a Sunday class run by Puddle Ducks - perfect, I thought!

I've been speaking to Puddle Ducks and their admin staff are really slow to reply to e-mail. I called up on Monday to sign up and they still haven't told me how to transfer funds. Very weird.

Is there an alternative baby swimming class provider that you'd recommend? Are these specialist classes better than just going to classes at your local pool? e.g. www.gogateshead.com/article/5840/Children-s-swimming-lessons

Thanks in advance for advice!

I think that it's much of a muchness at that age, tbh. And I'd go with the ones that are most convenient.

I went to the ones at our local council pool and they were fine. Their swimming classes for older DC were very good too.

I think the (more expensive) private providers are jolly handy if they run at a more convenient time, or use pools (like school ones) which are a handier location for you.

To be honest I just take my 10 month old myself every week. Bought him a float and looked online for things I should be doing. The baby classes seemed very expensive for what they included.

I am lucky though and I can go to a local health club whose pool is warmer than the local swimming pool. So no tears due to being cold

I take mine to puddle ducks. Have done since he was 6 months old and he is now 3 and a half. I'm a rubbish swimmer. But my little boy absolutely loves it. X

It is expensive but worth it to me x

Thanks both. For better or worse, I've signed up to Puddle Ducks. Fingers crossed it's worth it! xxx
