Hi
I wonder if anyone can give me some advice!
I can swim well and continually for an hour or so with Masters swim sessions. I can run a 5k. Although my fitness isn't at peak atm.
I am crap at cycling.
But I wanna do a triathalon.
A 750m swim and 5k run and 18k cycle.
Can someone give me advice if they have done one? Can I just start getting out on a standard bike?
TIA

Yes you can start out on a stand bike - but not sure what a standard bike is?

Transition should also be included in train - you will exit the swim and get on the bike, talc, towels and clip lock laces are all handy for a speedy transition

When you say your not much food on a bike...in what way?
Could you find a local club to try?

I think I mean a mountain bike. I'm not even sure what bike I have.
I can ride one but have no fitness when I do. Probably haven't used those muscles and haven't been on a bike for long periods of time.
Maybe I should just pop out one day on it and see how it goes before I start looking for a tri bike

Start getting used to the bike and cycling, start with a couple of rides 5/6miles and build up to 9 miles.

Then once you’ve done that try a few miles on the bike and when you get home go directly for a 3 km run...

Thank you for the tip. I'll start with a bike ride. Thanks!!

Hi OP. I started doing triathlons last year. I did a “starter sprint “ (200m swim, 13km bike, 2km run) using my mountain bike having not really cycled before. I found that actually, the cycling was my favourite part so I bought a second hand road bike and joined a local cycling club.
I’m not fast but I’m a lot fitter and this year I’m doing 5 sprint triathlons.
Have a look for local Go tri events - they are a really good introduction. And watch out - it’s addictive!
