Last few months I been super depressed. I used to go to the gym 3-4x week and one day I just stopped and never went back.

I've put on weight, as exercise always seems to kill my cravings.

Yesterday, I was hunch over sitting on a bench writing some note. When I go up, I felt a sharp pain all down the right side of my back. I'd pulled a ligament or a muscle. It was painful, I almost couldn't breathe. I'm that unfit but I know exercise will be painful at first.

How can I ease my way back in?

You could start by something as little as going for a walk or putting some music on and dancing around your living room. Are you specifically looking to go back to the gym? Does your gym do classes you could try to get you back in the swing of things. Or if you wanted to try running you could give couch to 5K a go (plenty of apps to help with this)

If your back is still hurting, maybe some yoga or Pilates to ease you back in and strengthen your core?

The Fear after a period away from exercise is very real, but thankfully the pain is usually fairly short lived. Good luck in getting back into it!
