Heart rate monitor / step tracker

Hi Mumsnetters!

I want to get a wearable gadget to track my heart rate and steps. Possibly my sleep as well although I'm not good at sleeping with any jewellery on so that's not an essential feature.

I was thinking about a FitBit. Would you recommend that or something else? Don't want to spend a fortune on something like an Apple watch as I am a bit of an amateur and am trying to cut the Apple apron strings because they are evil bastards.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

If you wait until around/after Christmas, there will probably be a lot of Fitbit Charge 2 on sale. Fitbit have just announced the launch of the Charge 3 (it looks amazing!). I'd guess it will be on the Christmas list for many existing fitbit users, who will then want to sell their old one.

I'd definitely recommend the fitbit. If you want a HR monitor you could get the Alta HR - smaller face but less on-wrist capabilities. Otherwise there is the Charge HR (which was the first generation) or the Charge 2 (second generation charge). The Charge 3 will be avaliable in a couple of months and is not all that unreasonable in price, from £130.

I've had a couple of fitbits - Surge and Alta HR. I got fed up with them after constant syncing problems (which going by the Fitbit forums is a common problem). A shame because they have great features. I'm afraid I have purchased a watch from the empire of evil (Apple), it just works albeit expensively (was a birthday present).
