Losing weight but it's not coming off the right places!

Well I'm doing well in my weight loss journey but I have a problem that it isn't coming off in the right place.

I'm a typical pear shape. My frame is very small from the waist up.. Small waist, shoulders, arms etc but I have big thighs, hips and bum.

I'm going to the gym a couple of times a week and doing a mix of cardio and weight training, doing an all over body workout but trying to focus on my lower body. I've just read online that you cannot spot train and no matter how much you focus on one area, it won't necessarily come off in that one area.

I've lost about half a stone in about three weeks and I'm happy to see things are going in the right direction but I've just seen my mum yesterday who commented that I'm looking a bit gaunt in my face and my collar bones are sticking out! However after trying a pair of jeans on last night, I'm disappointed to see that I'm not losing weight in the problem area and instead it's coming off in the places that are already skinny!

Anyone any advice on this?

I feel your pain. I too am pear shaped and weight always goes on from the thighs up and comes off from the face down 😓. However, if you persevere, your bottom half will start to slim down too. I think you will always be pear shaped though to a certain extent.

Keep going, it’ll happen. Sorry, there’s no magic answer. Wish there was.

I am apple shaped. All my fat is on my hips. I can't exercise it nor diet it away. I've just come here for the solidarity Sad

Though if it’s your tummy area then I guess stuff like planking and sit ups would improve your muscle tone and might draw things in a bit. So although you wouldn’t lose weight in that area you might find jeans fit a bit better? But overall the answer is probably more weight loss.

I lose from my miniscule bust and gain on the mum tum. Some strength work and muscle gain on your upper body may help to balance it.

My weight is mainly hips, bum legs. It's definitely better keeping them looking toned. The only time that my calves lost inches was in the aftermath of pregnancy/ SPD/ difficult birth. Despite weighing two stones more than normal, an inability to move much for a few months had wasted the muscle. As soon as I managed to build up the walking, they bulked back to their usual size!
