Help me find a suitable running top, please! It's so warm!

I saw a runner wearing what I can only describe as a tank top with really deep armholes - it looked so cool. In both senses of the word. Where can I find such a thing? Does it even have a proper name? I have been Googling aimlessly for hours now.

Basically, it's so damn hot that I would actually run in my sports bra (and I'm not even body confident), but I don't want to make anyone feel sick, so one of those poncy tops where you can see the sides of the bra and straps but your tummy is covered up with loose, lightweight material seems like a good compromise between my warmness and public decency...

Or maybe I'm being overly optimistic. The runner I saw was a skinny young thing and maybe that look doesn't translate well to someone a bit, well, fuller figure, shall we say? Short-sleaved technical tees are the best out of what I have to choose from at the moment, but I feel I need something even cooler. I just don't know what to look for...

Maybe it was a men's tank she was wearing? They tend to have much wider arm holes.

imsorryiasked · 06/08/2018 06:56

this one is a combined bra and loose tank

Men's vest, if you think the straighter cut wouid be OK (the proportions are somewhat different)

Or this vest from Decathlon www.decathlon.co.uk/run-light-tank-top-id_8380675.html which is loose and light.

Clearance Women's Yoga Sleeveless T-Shirt or if you search Amazon for "Loose Fit Open Back Workout Tank Tops" there are some cheapies.

Loopytiles · 06/08/2018 07:00

Loads of womens ones like this around in sports shops, workout vests.

BikeRunSki · 06/08/2018 07:08

Nike

Under Armour

I got a lovely neon orange on in the sale at ASICS - I love it!

Dafspunk · 06/08/2018 07:18

Just buy a lightweight T and cut the sleeves off - make the armholes as deep as you like.

You might be able to save your money because the forecast is due to change after today/tomorrow and be a lot cooler and rainier

Pippioddstocking · 06/08/2018 07:33

I got 2 from Tesco last year and am living in them at the moment

Blueberryblueberry · 06/08/2018 07:35

I have something very like you describe op- it's a men's vest top. I'm about a size 10 and wear a men's medium (bought for DH and never worn). It's nice and loose but does show my sports bra (which I don't mind). Women's sports tops are all so tight!

emummy · 06/08/2018 08:31

I have 2 very comfy loose running vests, one from Ronhill and one from Nike. If you have a look on sportsshoes.com they should have them.

BikeRunSki · 06/08/2018 13:58

They had some in Aldi this morning.

Thank you for all the suggestions - having a look now! And as for the weather cooling off, chance would be a fine thing!

I don't really feel cold even when it is properly cold, so I could do with some cooler running gear even if the weather shifts.

I don't understand the sizing on that site (and I've never heard of it before), but yes, something like this is what I pictured: m.shein.co.uk/Black-Drop-Armhole-Racerback-Tank-Top-p-294084-cat-1779.html?url_from=ukadplaRVES160620129S&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3L6vl-DX3AIVxTXTCh1wrA2-EAQYASABEgKXT_D_BwE&ref=www&rep=dir&ret=m

It would be ideal if I could find similar actually aimed at runners rather than fashion, because the material might be more breathable. Doing so more digging based on the ideas you've all given me...

Shrub us cheap Chinese stuff, along the lines of Wish but all fashion, and gets very poor reviews on here.

I have 2 Sweaty Betty Pacesetter Run vests, which are very thin and flareout at the back, so very cool too. Bought in the sales for about £20, so not the cheapest option, but I've been so impressed over the years with SB, that I order as soon as the sale stuff is released without fail. There is also often previous seasons' stuff at sale time, so I've managed to buy matching tops or whatever a year after originally buying the bottoms, once all returns are back.
