What to eat in between runs?

I've signed up to do a 10k run in the morning & a 5k obstacle course in the afternoon. I'm having a total mind blank as to what I should eat in between that will give me enough fuel but not be too heavy on my stomach! I'll need to take it with me, eggs don't agree with me if I do exercise after eating them so all I can think of is a cheese sandwich!
Please help with some ideas. I was thinking about having a protein drink but will need some carbs as well. I'll probably be having banana with peanut butter on toast for my breakfast before the 10k.

Flapjack or granola bar maybe? And a banana if you like them. Does the protein shake contain electrolytes? You might need them if it has been hot for the morning event. Good luck!

I second that. I take small squares of home made flapjacks with seeds and dried fruit in them to use as fuel during longer runs instead of gels and find them light enough to continue running on. A bigger one or two plus another banana sounds ideal for you if you like them.
And yes to electrolytes too!
Sounds like good fun! Enjoy your races and good luck .

How many hours betw finish one & start the other?

AuntieStella · 11/07/2018 17:04

Flapjack, banana and your bodyweight in Haribo?

DisneyIsMyDrug · 11/07/2018 19:17

I've not bought any protein shakes yet (or before!) so I'll make sure to look out for electrolytes.

I think I'll finish the 10k about 11.15 then the obstacle course is at 1.15 so about 2 hours in between.

Flap jacks are a good shout, forgot about them! Will make my own. And yes to the Haribo Grin

Thanks everyone, hoping the adrenaline will get me through a lot of it Grin

I love Clif energy bars. Pricey but really yummy. I find it difficult to eat before a race but can manage them.
