I'm looking at around £100
My short list is currently fitbit alta, fitbit charge 2, and gear fit 2.
I want accurate steps / distances, hr good,
Would like GPS, able to pick up texts a nice bonus,. Work as watch and alarm, look decent
My activities - yoga, lots of walking, intend to start slow jogging.
Want to wear all the time and not have it register when I'm not exercising but register if my hands are in my pockets not moving on a long dog walk.
What's the best bet?

Love my Garmin Vivosport, does everything you ask for. Cost me £135 when I get it from Argos.

Rollerbird · 24/06/2018 20:49

Just read a review. Sounds like a good option.
Need to work out size!

I've just bought a Garmin vivosmart. I have gone through two fitbits in the last three years, my Charge has just completely died. Try and get one with a button to press, the Charge has à touchscreen and as a result I don't know if it's not charging or if the screen has broken because I just can't get any response from it!

Rollerbird · 24/06/2018 21:00

So, the smart or the sport??

I have a Fitbit charge 2 and love it, it gives accurate and relevant info, great for all the activities you speak of, hear rate is accurate as is GPS, also has interchangeable straps. I recommend and would buy again

TokyoSushi · 24/06/2018 21:24

I have a Fitbit blaze, pink & gold strap, does all exercise, heart rate, gps, texts, sleep, loads of stuff. I absolutely love it!

I wouldn't necessarily pay full price though, there's absolutely loads 'hardly used' on eBay

Rollerbird · 24/06/2018 21:38

The blaze looks chunky - I want a slim one.
This is why I like the alta and gear fit 2 (and the vivo)

It is quite chunky, but you soon get used to it and it's really brilliant, say you'll think about it?! Grin

I've just moved from the Fitbit Flex 2 to the Fitbit Charge 2. I love it! My only issue is that it's large on my narrow wrists. The Alta may be better for this reason, but I wanted GPS connectivity for my runs and the Alta doesn't have this.

Rollerbird · 24/06/2018 22:04

I've got narrow wrists too.
I also would prefer GPS.

northernlites · 24/06/2018 22:15

I have narrow wrists, I was worried about my fit bit looking large but it's fine, I'm used to it and happy with the look
It has gps too

Save your money, they are mostly rubbish. Use a free phone app as a guide instead.

TefalTester123 · 24/06/2018 22:33

Came on to recommend Garmin Vivosprt. Have been using since mid Jan. Great feature is the activity minutes that it calculates. Big incentive to walk faster or start jogging. Higher intensity minutes (i.e. Higher heart rate) count double towards your 150 a week. Has got me running again.
Also the calculation of a fitness age is nice, even better to see it reducing.

TefalTester123 · 24/06/2018 22:35

Should have mentioned the Vivosport shows phone notifications. I did not think I needed that but it's actually really useful.

itsbritneybiatch · 24/06/2018 22:41

Is then vivosport waterproof?

TefalTester123 · 25/06/2018 10:07

Yes

Bubblysqueak · 25/06/2018 11:24

Love my Garmin vivofit. It's great as it is waterproof so I wear it swimming and in the shower.

beautifulblueballoon · 25/06/2018 20:54

i have a fitbit charge 2 and do really like it. Seems very accurate. I use it to track various exercise including running, body attack class and spinning classes. plus long dog walks.
text notifications are actually really handy too although I didn't know I needed them!
Only downside is it isn't true GPS, as in you need to have your phone with you to use the GPS function. I am hankering over upgrading to the ionic or to a garmin for full GPS for my runs.
Also, I too have narrow wrists. I do find it a bit chunky due to the shape especially where the strap attaches. A friend , also with little wrists, has a blaze and although slightly bigger it actually sits flatter on her wrist and I think looks slightly better.

Rollerbird · 28/06/2018 15:47

I'm going to order my vivofit tomorrow when I get paid.
I'm very excited 👍

I've got the vivosport now.
Trying to work it out!

I have been looking at the vivofit tracker, as my Fitbit has finally given up. I won’t have another Fitbit, as I’ve has nothing but problems with it (shame, as I really like the app) and other family and friends who’ve had one have all had issues.

I’ve seen reviews saying the step counter isn’t very accurate on the Garmins - has anyone found this to be a problem? I will only be using it for walking, I don’t run or go to the gym.
