Bone conduction headphones

I've seen them mentioned a few times and they seem a great idea. To be able to hear traffic when near roads, cyclists coming up behind you on tracks etc.

I can't seem to find any actual shops that stock them to try some out - it all seems to be online sales.

What makes do you have? What features should I be looking for? Are they as good as they make out? Are you pleased with them? Any drawbacks?

I have a pair of Aftershokz, bought online. They are comfortable and easy to use. I sometimes found them a bit quiet next to busier roads, but I have found that if I turn the volume up on my phone before I start I can then get louder levels using the headphone controls. I listen to podcasts, not music, so it's a bit quieter anyway. I have seen some complaints that they are not loud enough and I think other people can hear what you are listening to if they were sitting next to you, on a train for instance. I only wear mine running so that's not a problem! And of course you can wear them in races where the in ear phones are not allowed.
There are cheaper ones than the Aftershokz, I don't know what they are like.

Runners Need sell Aftershokz and have a display thingie which means you can try them on. I have a wireless pair (Trekz Titanium) and think they're great, though they take a bit of getting used to (angle, mainly, but you can fiddle with that by resting the back on a ponytail).

I find they 'spill' and annoy people far less than ordinary. Neverdid get the hang of volume control from the headset itself (kept turning them off completely by mistake). The pause/restart button (that I didn't even notice for weeks) is however idiot-proof.

Thanks both. There's a Runners Need about 45 mins away so I'll have to take a trip there to try some. Might get me a gait analysis and a a new pair of trainers too Grin
