Is it a waste of £ to only wear Fitbit when working out?

I'm thinking about buying a Fitbit to track calories etc but I don't want to wear it all the time.

Would it be a waste of money to only wear it when working out? If my current exercise plan works out it'll be 5x per week

Not sure. I bought one for my OH and he only takes his off to shower. He wears it constantly to track heartrate, miles, calories and track sleep.

It would be a waste of money. You can get an app that will help track calories. Fit bits are more for day to day tracking of steps and heart rate and exercise etc.

Just wanted to echo what mumwhatnothing said above, it would be a waste.

I wear my Fitbit constantly during the day and friends an I have a competition as to who does the greatest number of steps in the week/weekend. That, I feel, is where its strength lies, though I do also where it during exercise and it does have a "Run" facility which I use.

If you just want something to track exercise I'd use your phone and an app, for instance Strava if you are running or cycling

What kind of exercise? Because I'd only use Map My Run if it's running and not bother.

Also you can get nicer watches that aren't so ugly if you could wear it more. Nokia Steel for example.

Very interesting. I'd use it running (at home, treadmill) & during PT sessions. I think I'd just really like to know how many calories I have burnt

Garmin are better for specific activity tracking and will give you more stats. I'd be looking at a Garmin rather than Fitbit if you want an exercise tracker - fitbits are more of an general throughout the day activity counter.

Lots of athletes have a Garmin that they only wear for specific activity tracking, even though it can be a 24/7 tracker too.

If you don't want heart rate then map my run type apps will track route, distance, pace, etc. Although you obviously have to take your phone with you.
