Slow and steady or flat out?

Did c25k last year and still run 5k about twice a week. I'm bored of it now and was wondering if running as fast as I can for 15 minutes (on a treadmill so monitoring heart rate) would maintain fitness and/or help weight loss. It usually takes me 30 - 35 mins to run 5k.

yep. It would help, or probably a better method would be intervals, so 1 minute fast, recovery jog, and repeat.
