What have I done to myself? Pain during/after exercise

Doing lunge-walking in an exercise class this morning - right side was fine but stepping forward on my left leg felt a sharp pain in the top of my leg/bum. Carried on with the class but avoided lunges. Squats and anything with my weight on both legs or my right leg was fine. Since the class it’s got a bit worse and things like going upstairs are really uncomfortable.

What have I done to myself and are there any quick fixes to make it feel better?

Try rolling it out on a hard foam roller!

Oo yes. If you use a roller, you’ll know what you’ve strained because it’ll hurt more than other bits of your leg when you roll over the foam roller.
