Just what the thread title says really! I think yoga might be good for learning some calming techniques but I'm worried that I won't be able to physically get into any of the positions.

What type of yoga were you thinking of? I have always found Hatha yoga fine. Has also been helpful mentally.

No idea tbh! I am just finding that I'm getting easily stressed with the children so I thought something like yoga might help.

There are often modified versions of the positions. Tbh I think that one of the great things about yoga is that almost anyone can do it - it's not an 'all or nothing' kjnd of thing. Doing some if it at all (even if ypu skip or modify some bits) is beneficial. And you'll get better at it over time!

There are several different types, but I have found Hatha yoga the easiest to master. Most teachers offer beginners or mixed ability classes. I also found this type good for managing stress. Which region of the country are you in?

Anyone can do it, you just have to go at the pace that is comfortable for you. It is great for stress, core strength, flexibility etc.

Also have a look on YouTube, there are some great sessions you can do on there.

No do it, I too am fat I do a lot of cardio but not bendy at all, try yoga with Adrienne she has loads of videos on YouTube including a 20minute beginners which is great, before you know it you’ll be doing an hour! Enjoy

I agree, start with Yoga With Adriene. She's done a 30 Days of Yoga thing called True. Here: Adriene

It's meant for beginners and starts very easy, building up gradually. And she's very inclusive, telling you to just do whatever your body can do today.

I am also fat and unfit and she's got me moving my body.

I heart her Smile

Would you rather go to classes or do it at home?

I find yoga has a huge impact on how stressed i get with kids. Thats what motivates me to go half the time.

But not all classes and teachers are good. Its def worth exploring lots of yoga options. One of the markers of a good class is that it does not matter if youre fat, unfit or inflexible.

Wollstonecraft1 · 25/01/2018 18:54

Classes, definitely. I won't be motivated if it is watching a video at home.

Good to hear it helps you, timshort

Take a beginner's class OP,you don't need to wear anything special at all, just something comfortable.I hope you enjoy it.🌻
