Birthday present ideas for runner DH

VanillaNewYear · 30/12/2017 14:04

It's my DH's birthday next week and I am stuck for present ideas as I tend to go overboard at Christmas.

He started Park Runs about a year ago and is now a regular runner. He completed his first half marathon in October and would like to run in some more events next year.

So, running-themes present ideas, please, that won't break the bank.

He already had a good Fitbit that does HR, BP etc. He has lots of running socks and running clothes. I think he should buy his running shoes himself as they are very personal/individual items. I don't think he'd like a subscription to a running magazine, however, but if you have any App suggestions, that would be great.

We have a running machine for the winter and he will start running outside when the evenings get a bit lighter. Any ideas for NICE hi-vis & reflective gear?

Thank you!

If he doesn't have one, a foam roller for sore muscles? He'll thank you for it during marathon training.

Or some quality sports headphones? You can get bone conducting ones that make it safer running at night as you are more aware of your surroundings.

Or lightweight warm gloves and a buff - both great for cold and you need multiple pairs (or at least I do as I am always loosing them!)

Thank you BadgerLady - some great ideas, especially the foam roller. 🏃🏃😊

Foam roller is a great idea! also a chest light for dark evenings?

DH was given some lights on clips that fit to the back of his trainers for running at night - he was v pleased with that as a present.

A flipbelt to carry his key and phone while he runs. Dh loves his so much he bought a second one.

A water carrier of some sort? You can get bottles that go on a belt round your waist/hips or a back pack one with a straw thing to your mouth.

Million mile lights. No battery required. Pretty cool.

If he's doing parkrun you can get bracelets, credit card and key fob style cards with your barcode on. You can also get apricot parkrun tshirt s/vest with your home run printed on the front.

How about entry into a race with a hotel stay before/afterwards?

Medal and bib holder for his medals and bib number? I love mine!!!

I bought a running friend a subscription to PaceBox which went down really well. They got running related stuff for 3 months. There are other running related subscriptions available too

Sleeves!

I love neck buffs, too.

You need someone to show you had to use foam roller & you need to have the problems that makes it worthwhile to be disciplined enough to use a foam roller.

Ooh, yes. He might like Parkrun apricot t-shirt or something.

And I love my new bobble hat with reflective bobble.

Thank you everyone - the parkrun best sounds good and I love the idea of a hotel before a running event - as long as it has a spa for me Grin
