Advent Running Challenge

I've had a crap relationship with running the past 18 months. Completed c25k in July in a bid to get me back into a routine which worked but was really ill for a month afterwards and struggled to get back into it. So saw one posted on a running group and thought I'd give it a stab. Pretty simple. Run every day (including Christmas Day) minimum of 3 miles or 25 mins whichever come first.

Went out after school drop off and did my 25 mins. It was tentative cos of the frost/ice but managed 17 mins before needing a 90sec walk than carried on with my plod. So mega pleased with that as it's been so long since I've ran. Weather was glorious too.

So does anyone want to join me in an advent Running Challenge?!

Day 10 done. Literally just stuck to my 25 mins and prayed to get home in one piece. It was cold. It was icey and for reasons unknown I thought it would be a good idea to take the dog with me too. By no means my best but I went and the continuous streak continues

For the first time in ages I've run in successive days. 2.5miles, seeing how my new(ish) trail shoes do on slushy snow. The answer was 'fine' but I had very wet feet by the time I came in.

Fab AuntieStella did you manage to make it out for a third?

I was back on the treadmill for day 11. Did 5k in total. Still find treadmill running really difficult but Managed to do 21mins before I needed to walk for a couple of minutes. Then speed work all the way to the end

Not running - long walk yesterday, and also planned for today.

Day 12 - Another dull 40 mins on the dreadmill

4 miles yesterday

(Today is a walk day)

Yesterday (day 13) was on the treadmill and it was hell and I just couldn't make it work

Today (day 14) did just over three miles outside. So glad to be out n about. Paths are pretty much back to normal just one random patch that I skated across

Did today (day15) only managed about 3.5k. Ice has appeared out of no where over night. Absolute nightmare. So took it very slow and steady. Don't want ny broken bones

Feeling proper rough today. Dragged myself through a slow 5k on the dreadmill. But that's day 19 boxed off

Day 20 done. Still struggling and another session on the treadmill so did 25 mins of intervals. 400m run 100m brisk walk. Gave me chance to run quicker than I normally would and at the end my avg speed was similar to what I'd normally plod along on

A damp 3 miles first thing this morning. Trail shoes are getting nicely broken in

thismeansnothing · 21/12/2017 22:33

Failed epicly on day 21. So pissed off. Got up at half 7 with a zillion and one things to do while dd was at school. Then or shopping with her so intended to go out when I got back in at 8pm. But DH is illand needed to go the walk in centre so I've not been able to go out. So so annoyed. Getting this far is still an achievement but the challenge was every day dammit. Gah
