Who runs in the dark in the mornings

Anyone else run at around 6am?

Just curious to know who gets up and runs in the winter mornings.

I really want to get in a quick run before I do the school run but its still dark.

It really appeals to me but I want to know I'm not the bonkers only one!

I haven’t for a few weeks because of a back injury, but used to do v.early runs regularly. Best time of day, as far as I’m concerned.

Get all your clothes ready the night before. Wear bright colours / high vis. Stick to a route you’re familiar with if you’re feeling nervous. And not sure what kind of distances you do but do think about hydration, especially if you’re going straight after waking up.

I don’t run as such but I take my dogs out for a brisk walk/jog just after 6am every day.
Everyone thinks I’m nuts but it’s the only time I have to do it before the madness of the morning begins!
I do love to see other people out doing the same though. There’s quite a few regular joggers on my routes I have.

Three mornings a week, I catch the tube halfway to work & run the other half - so leave home around 6.30 & start running about 7.15.

Does that count as bonkers

I go out at 6am twice a week. I sleep in my sports bra as I never seem to be quite co-ordinated enough in the mornings to get it on quickly! I wear a hi vis/reflective vest thing over my usual t-shirt and have a head torch that I wear if I can find it.

I do a half hour walk-run thing as I can't seem to get a consistent speed.

I love that time of the morning and its the only time I can fit my exercise in, just blooming dark!

I’ve got a really good headtorch, lights up the whole path as streetlights are at a minimum round my way.

When I was training for the london marathon I used not start running at about 5am. Sometimes my fringe got icicles ...
We live in the middle of no where so it’s actually the safest time to run on the roads as you can see things coming. It’s magic seeing it get light - I’m away with work at the moment and last night I stayed near the sea. I went out at 6.45 and run up and down the docks / prom watching the sea as it got light :-)

A decent head torch is a must - quite good for wedging a bobble hat on ;-)

I do - I run 6am all year round but I run on the pavement in well lit areas and surprising how many people are walking to work etc and I pass petrol stations, residential areas so don't feel unsafe. Just have to do it and get out - that's the hardest bit and I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it harder at this time of year. As I run in lit areas, I don't need a head torch and when I did try one, I round the constant bobbing up and down made the light beam bob up and down which made me a a bit dizzy.
