Post baby (5 months) stomach sticking out

Apologies for asking what may be a very common question on this board, but I couldn't see a previous one scrolling through the first page.

I had my second and final baby 5 months ago.

My stomach sticks out more than it has ever done before. I think this is partly some podge I must shift by eating less, but I also blame my muscles. Or rather I hope to solve it partially by diet and partially through stomach exercises.

Can anyone point me in the direction of 10-15 mins of stomach exercises I can do daily while watching tv to get my stomach muscles to become tighter, joined together, stronger better etc?

Many thanks

You may have a diastasis recti which is separation of the abdominal muscles.

Have a google of how to check for it, what exercises to encourage it to come together and which ones to avoid which will push the muscles apart.

Yeah, you do need to be careful and get advice on this if you think there’s any chance of DR

But this is the best exercise I’ve found for tummy post-pregnancy:

Of course a variety of core exercises will be better, but this is my number one! Smile

First step is to be on all fours and pull your tummy in. That’s safe if you have a split abs.

I had a 4 finger width DR after my second baby. I got it down to 1 finger width just by engaging my abs when walking, lifting etc.
Also, lying on the floor and pressing your back right down, tightening your tum helps.

I've just checked the way described above, and I think I've only got a one finger width gap, if that. I have also concluded my sticky out belly might just be extra podge carried round my middle as I'm an apple shape Blush

I think less cake and more exercise might be needed...
