So I have previously been a runner and a weightlifter. Following injury (recovered) I would like to try and marry the two up - 3 days of lifting and 3 days of running. However, I am struggling planning how to schedule this.

Training at the moment is a bit haphazard but I need structure. Happy to run home from work and to double up on training days but trying to get the days to work out to do it (ie not on a Friday as I will leave my stuff at work). Would also like / prefer to have fresh legs on a Saturday for a longer run.

Please help. I have brain fog / fart and it's just not working! Smile

I lift and run. I just wing it, and try to work in two days of rest.

This week (back to it after marathon break):
Today - rest.
Tomorrow - weights am, running pm (8-10k)
Wednesday - running pm (5-8k)
Thursday - weights am
Friday - rest
Saturday - weights am
Sunday - long run (half marathon distance)

3 days of each.
Fresh legs on Saturday: so ideally Friday is your rest day.

With above 2 rules, the week must look like:
Friday rest
Saturday long run
Sund: weights
Monday run
Tues weights
Weds: run
Thurs weights

Why wouldn't Ur week look like that?
There will be odd week when you swap a day around.

I guess you could double up instead, one day, & then have 2 rest days a week. But Y would you prefer that?

Thanks all. Sorry, my brain clearly wasn't working last night!

I've been winging it lately, been a bit all over the place and put on some weight so looking for structure.

Thanks againSmile
