Hi everybody,

I've had a nosy through the exercise threads and can't seem to find my answer.... And Google doesn't seem to help on this one!!!

I've recently found out I'm pregnant (my first, 6weeks).. I've been going to Zumba & Trampolining for the last 2 years, but had a month or so off recently (knee injury)..

Anyway, my question is, can I still do these whilst I'm still early in pregnancy?

What kind of exercises are safe and what should I avoid?

Thank you all in advance :)

Trying to say this kindly, but your google skills aren't brill if you found nothing.
It's fine to keep doingwhat you're used to (until birth, even) as long as it isn't contact sport or high falling/injury risk.
Main principle listen to your body; don't overheat, don't go hell for leather, don't overheat, do keep fluid intake up. Have a great pregnancy.

It's usually Ok to continue with exercise you are accustomed to, for as long as you feel comfortable doing it.

It's not the best time to take up new forms of exercise (other than specific classes for the pregnant), though up to 12 weeks is probably going to be OK (pregnancy won't have grown beyond the bowl of the pelvis, you're unlikely to have hormone-softened ligaments that early and your centre of gravity won't have altered).

You really do need to talk to your class instructors too. There can be moves which are best avoided at any stage in pregnancy (eg some prone floor stretches, some abs work) and you need to discuss when to start adapting them. Plus making sure the instructor knows what to say/not say in from of the whole class until you go public.

I have had 2 kids and exercised (weight training & swimming) during both pregnancies. I'm also a trained PT.

I absolutely think exercise is one of the best things you can do for your body (and mind!) while pregnant, but I absolutely would give trampolining a miss!! The downward pressure on your cervix and pelvic floor will probably not do you any favours. There is also the added risks of falling awkwardly. I think continuing with other types of exercise is definitely warranted but just trampolining, I'd probably chose something else in it's place, personally.

Definitely keep up the zumba for as long as you feel able, you may feel more tired than normal and some days cannot get out of bed, let alone exercise but I would go easy on yourself and do what you feel able for on the day.

Congratulations btw :)
