C25K for bikes or novice to small distance graduates out There?

Hi all

I have been signed up for a 45mile charity bike ride in Sept (not a race)

Last year I was able to do a 5k run using the C25K to help me... Just wondered if anyone has used an equivalent for cycling?

Failing that, anyone have suggestions/recommendations for getting me from a 3-4x a year, max 30 mins at a time, rider to being able to do 45 miles?

Thanks all

Sorry, no help but watching with interest. Have you also seen that there is a cycling board on here.

No, I didn't Choc. Thanks for heads up, I have posted on there too!

Hi Any, I don't think you really need an app for it. Your risk of injury by extending your bike rides is so much less than trying to improve your running quickly. How are you going to train for this? Stationary bike, off road bike rides, road rides? Could you extend the time on your bike slowly, or add an extra 5k a week to your rides?
Ps considering you've already done the running and are now cycling, when are you going to join us on the triathlon thread? ;-)

Ps I think the distance is doable, but you are really going to need to get used to sitting on your saddle for some time.. .

Thanks Fidget.

Advice has been to go straight out on the bike and avoid the bike in gyms unless absolutely necessary as the difference is so cast.

The idea of 5k each week is a great one... I shall add that in. You'd think with my level of natural.padding and a large saddle, the seat wouldn't be a problem. But it seems not!

I ABSOLUTELY will not be doing a triathlon. I bitch and whine at every stage of these charity stages and give up immediately after!!
