Hello, I vowed to be fit by 40 and am doing Couch to 5k and enjoying it. I will probably look to progress to 10k when I'm done. I'd like to sign up for a couple of races and my questions are:

  1. What's a respectable time for a 5k?
  2. What's a good time for a 5k that a fit person would achieve?
  3. Same for a respectable 10k?
  4. A good 10k?
Thanks

Speaking as a shortarse in her mid-40s, who's been running for about a year, my best 5k time is a disrespectable 34 mins & my best 10k is about 1hr14.

So what? I'm out & I'm running. That's what matters.

I'm 33... and i think my best 5k is like 33min, oddly enough my 10K is more like 1:05. I keep telling myself I'm an endurance runner, being in one piece is more important! Plus, 6 months ago I was not even doing this !

I only started running 3 months ago and now run the weekly Parkrun. My fastest is 32 minutes and my aim is sub 30. Not done a 10k yet, but who knows where I'll be in the next 3 months.

The most important thing is that I bloody love it, I'm getting fit and my jiggly bits are a lot less jiggly Wink
