I need to exercise but my knee is fucked. Help!

I started the 30 day shred but my weak knee has given in. Could I keep going but just do the sit ups etc? Or can anyone recommend a different set of exercises I could do? I need to keep burning calories because I've sod all willpower regarding what's going in my mouth Sad

Why not something lower impact, like swimming or maybe cycling?

I can't suggest spinning classes, they are tough on knees too.

Swimming is a great suggestion! Have you ever done yoga? That's a great low-impact exercise to do until you heal up. Check out Beacbody's 3 Week Yoga Retreat: www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/3-week-yoga-retreat-beginners.do

It's made for beginners and you can do most of it using the free trial. It made a huge difference for my aches and pains.

Oh following! My knees have been swelling up for the past 6 months or so, and I can't even do cycling on my exercise bike without them going tender.

I have bad knees and am very o verweight but I am doing spinning classes. I just don't stand up on th pedals. Makes it hard enough n your bum initially but it's toughend up now! Grin

However you prob need to rest it till it recovers.

Unfortunately most weight loss is about diet. Exercise can help but diet needs addressing. What do you mean by "weak" knee? Have you seen a physio?

Hi OP, I was a keen runner but my knees are shot through a lot of exercise in my youth.Sad. I now swim a mean front crawl and do some weight work on alternate days. It is working really well and my knees are improving due to gaining muscle strength elsewhere.I could not swim freestyle but I watched loads of youtube videos and after a cringeworthy 6 months in the pool have become a demon swimmer!!

I've not seen a physio. It's like a niggle deep inside my knee that hurts with certain movements.
It can be anything from walking up stairs, to getting out the car (right knee, so first foot out) to turning over in bed. It's been getting worse as in more frequently painful over recent weeks, so I've resorted to naproxen and a tubular bandage during the day.
When I say no willpower re eating, it's not that I'm massive, but need to lose half a stone and tone up
30 day shred was purchased before my knee started playing up again

Right I would also love to be able to swim but it's not possible just now (combination of school holidays/ no babysitter/ and not a lot of water confidence - I've never been a great swimmer but having nearly drowned in deep water years ago I get panicky if I can't touch the bottom Grin )

I have the same issue. I've got a sports knee support that really helps and means I can shred again. I tend to do a few days of shred, a couple of days of yoga (see Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube) then back to shred.

My knee was really bad last year and I stopped exercising altogether through fear of making it worse. I've got about a stone to lose and lots of toning up to do but it seems to be working.

Its best to do walking at least for half an hour when you have a weak knee. I tried a www.comfysplints.com knee brace while exercise and it helped to reduce the tension given to the knee.
