Running - when the legs say no

I often go out running in the morning without eating first and I feel great, legs are co-operative, I'm going up and down hills no problem.

However I often try to go out at work at lunch (before eating) - it's flat so should be no problem at all. And it's a nightmare! My legs, knees, feet, are complaining the whole way. I've tried having a banana and plenty of fluids an hour before I go in case it's lack of energy/hydration but seems to make no difference.

What do you do when your legs are just saying no?

go anyway. Just slower & maybe shorter time.

My legs often say no Hmm and usually I have to listen to them and stop running. Sometimes, if I persist, I can carry on, though slowly. Even a slow run is better than no run. Maybe mornings are your best time to run?

Sorry can't offer any useful advice.

I just try to keep going - though only about once has the feeling worn off. I pretty much have to slow down though.

Anyone know what causes it? Is it something to do with lactic acid?
