What workouts/exercises are best to burn tummy fat?

I am pretty happy with my body but dislike my tummy.

I walk a lot and I am working on my diet which I know will aid this but I am keen to know what exercises will help.

I know variations of sit-ups and crunches but what else?

Thank you

For very sit up you do do 2 leg raises!

No amount of sit ups will target tummy fat. Only weight loss will target fat. You cannot pin point a specific area of your body to get rid of fat. You can tone up your muscles but the fat will still be on top of them.
If, however, there is no fat there, pilates is a good all over toning exercise, particularly for the core muscles groups.

Thank you both. Best be stricter with my diet and also work on toning it!

Most sadly, those will improve the muscle beneath the fat but such improvements will not be seen because of the fat in the way. My tummy looks like I'm expecting year in year out it's so horribly sticking out but it's only that combination of exercise/calorie cutting that will help.

I guess the "abs are made in the kitchen" phrase exists for a reason!

Planks are reckoned to be very good for toning. Better than sit-ups.

I was musing about exactly the same earlier today and found this:

It's a while since I've been pregnant but I'm certainly going to give the last three exercises a go.

2littlemoos · 01/07/2017 18:54

Thanks robinia definitely going to have a look at that!

Ah yes forgot about planks!

You can't reduce fat in a particular area, but a good core exercise is leg raises and then raising your bum off the ground.

Abs are most definitely made in the kitchen.

I do have abs actually. Their definition is down to exercise (I never do sit ups or crunches though), the fact you can see them is down to a low body fat percentage maintained by diet.

2littlemoos · 02/07/2017 09:45

showofhands is there any type of food you avoid? Other than the obvious processed and refined foods, high saturated fat foods etc.?

I don't eat processed food, avoid refined food as far as possible, no caffeine, no alcohol.

I eat veg, lean protein, eggs, some complex carbs, seeds & grains, fruit, some dairy, nuts.

My diet is high veg/protein, good fats, low carb, no added sugar.

I agree with those that have said improve diet and fitness first. For me running has been great and I'm more toned all over since doing it. However if you want core exercises here are some from women's health magazine.
