How do I get rid of under arm fat????

I'm a reasonable build (5'7'' and about 9.5 stone) but I seem to have loads of fat under my arms and when I wear a properly fitting bra it really digs into the fat and looks awful. To try and diminish the effect I'd have to wear a bra that didn't give me proper support as it would be way too big around my rib cage. Does anyone have any advice as to what I could try, probably in terms of exercises to try and tone up that area, if that's even possible?????

Are you sure you're wearing a proper bra? Is it on smallest hook or largest? If the smallest then actually you don't have the right rib cage size most likely hence the digging. I remeasured myself using the "bra intervention" idea from MN and it really revolutionised my bras (before they were too small on the cup, and dug in around the armpit)

You sound about my size and height. I'm a size 8/10.

I generally exercise with weights as well as run which gives me more tone.

You're supposed to scoop all that fatty stuff under your arm into the bra.

ps: I way more than you at barely taller, and I only have bones under my arms. I expect you should be like that, too.

Ah, thanks for the tip re scooping! I'll give it a go. Every time I've been measured I've always been at 32 with 34s feeling too loose, but I'll go and get measured again

At a guess, you're probably more like a 28 (or even smaller), and a (much) bigger cup than you suspect.

@Mammyofonlyone I am the same as you, 32 too small and 34 too big. Just try lots of bras on as some come up smaller/bigger. Re under arm fat it might be because your cup size is too small? I was erroneously cramming my FF cups into an E cup and had this issue!

I'd measure yourself tbh stand up straight with no bra on and measure tightly around your rib cage under your breasts if you measure 28 you need a 28 back (you no linger add 4 or 5 inches to back measurements). Normally if you are an odd number you round down but as you are slim you may have to round up. Your new bra should be on the biggest back fitting and be snug (you can try it on backwards and check you can only fit two fingers inside it.

For the cup bend over at 90 degrees and measure around your breasts at their largest part, this is your cup measurement.
So if you measure 34 (with a 28 back) for example you count up six cups A, B,C,D,DD,E - making you a 28 E.

Then when you put your bra on do up the back then lean forward and scoop all of your breast tissue from underneath into the cup if the bra.
It feels a bit weird at first but looks and supports you oh so much bettet.

Thanks for the tips on measurement too, I'll give those a go. Maybe a bigger cup size could help. Any recommendations on where to go to be professionally measured? I've been to John Lewis before and they were good, I've heard M and S aren't very reliable?

If you have a bravissimo then I would go there.

KanyesLunchbox · 23/06/2017 23:14

I have nothing further to add, but I love how every board is a bra intervention opportunity Grin
