Which exercise has changed your body?

I'm just getting back in to exercise and am currently doing DVDs at home. I am alternating between 30 Day shred, some Davina (15 Minute Fit and Intense) and Charlotte Crosby 3 Minute Belly Blitz. I'm enjoying them and want to stick to HIIT type training but would lie to incorporate something new.

I'm mostly limited to exercise DVDs but my mum has offered to babysit if I find a class I want to do. I'm thinking of Kettlebells as I want to do some weight training and think it might be better to do a class. I would love some kind of Yoga or Pilates, would I need a class for this or would a beginners DVD be ok?

Pole fitness

Now I was investigating this justctoday for an extra little bit of something but the truth is I'd need a pole the size of nelsons column so I just scrolled on to something else.

Ditto Nancy91, pole fitness is the only thing I have stuck to. Although I can't go Atm due to an injury :(
I really noticed the change in my arms and shoulders.
I also used to cycle a lot, and ended up with really toned thighs, they were solid.

HIIT and weight training

Nancy91 · 12/06/2017 19:25

MrsPeely you can't be too big, sometimes we do tricks where 3 of us get on the pole at the same time, they can take a LOT of weight.

Fiona, that's a shame about your injury, you must be really missing it!

MikeUniformMike · 12/06/2017 19:25

Free weights. You can start with really small dumbbells. You really need someone to show you how to use them but you'll see results afterv about 3 sessions.

MrsPeelyWaly · 12/06/2017 20:17

Nancy, thank you. I'll go and see about a few private sessions just for a wee taster.

MrsJBaptiste · 12/06/2017 22:16

Spinning and weight lifting. I never thought I'd be lifting barbells in the gym but I love it! I've really toned up and at 40, am probably the slimmest I've been for years.

Running

scaryclown · 12/06/2017 22:23

The biggest thing for me wasn't exercise, but diet with exercise, so do low carbon and good protein and low calories..
Shake protein and fruit bfast... Light lunch salad or chicken only, shake/fruit smoothy eve with whey protein. Dont drink or have sugar, drink water and coffee without sugar.. You'll see results weekly with that and exercise. Sleep a lot!

That with all round exercise with a good ab-focussed class will work wonders

MrsJBaptiste · 12/06/2017 22:48

Yes scary I've noticed the most change due to exercise and diet, I'm low carbing too. I've cut out all carbs except those in fruit and veg (I'm not that strict!) but still eat a load of food, especially after a workout!

elektrawoman · 12/06/2017 22:59

Sunnydaysrock - is a trampette a small trampoline? Has it really helped your pelvic floor? We have a trampoline in the garden but I have a weak pelvic floor so I don't use it as I am too scared of weeing myself!

MikeUniformMike · 12/06/2017 23:04

Ignore advice to eat a banana before you exercise, carb load etc. unless you're running a marathon or something.

Fiona1984 · 13/06/2017 07:16

Nancy91 I am, it's been 7 weeks since I last went. Hoping to get this issue resolved so I can return very soon.
And MrsPeelyWaly, you should definetly give it a go. The groups I've been to have consisted of various sizes, ages and genders.
I've looked into getting my own pole and the home ones will support up to 16 stone. The poles in a studio will be even stronger.

bruffin · 13/06/2017 07:23

You dont need to low carb, just eat less.

GeekLove · 13/06/2017 16:10

Kettlebells.

I haven't lost much weight but have gained a lot of muscle mass and upper body strength. My hips and thighs are a lot more solid and I even have that little dip between bum and rear quad. My back looks awesome and my waist is more defined.

It's awesome being able to open foil wine bottles and carry bags of fertilizer under each arm. That and be able to do pull-ups, though I still such at monkey bars!

I think its also made my pulse and blood pressure drop, but that could be because I follow a paleo-ish diet too.

HILT, weights and boxing
Callanetics toned my body, but it is so damn boring.
