Can't stop eating

I don't think I exercise excessively but I did a long run at the weekend and cannot stop eating this week. I try not to have too many protein shakes during the week but do top up with them, eat loads of fruit, veg and nuts and then end up raiding the kids sweet tin.
I think I eat reasonably well during the day but would like to increase the amount of exercise I do over the next few months. Is more protein the answer? I don't live in the uk and meat is really expensive. I end up craving and eating massive amounts of carbs. I mainly do crossfit, run and swim.

There aren't lot of calories in sweets... Y not have more fruit instead?

because I'm already eating loads for fruit and veg but still very hungry towards the end of the day.

Maybe you need to eat more in the day? Get some more high fat foods in, or snack on nuts?

How many carbs do you usually eat? You'll probably need to eat more to fuel your extra miles.

I would have a look at your fibre intake as it's known for making us feel full. So rather than just carbs make sure they are good sources of fibre as well.

I had this problem when marathon training last year. My training is now more varied (Crossfit, cardio sessions) and have found that upping my fat % has helped me feel full ('good' fats obviously). I'm now on 30% fat, 30% protein and 40% carbs on the advice of a nutritionist.
