I've joined with many others ( there is a Facebook page)
Anyone else want to join us?

2.5 miles done yesterday, though a large amount of that was done pacing round the garden! Neighbours must have wondered what I was doing so some was done under the cover of darkness!. Managed a short walk away from the house with ds at the end of the phone should I have a panic and need him to come get me! If I can do the same again today that's the first pound in the pot! Have also started the getting up and moving around every time the ads come on when watching tv, it quickly adds up .

I'm doing this as well! I'm counting my walks - school run/dog walking etc not just my steps around the house (sahm) as I want to be more active outside. I think it's a great challenge and I'm really looking forward to what I get from it

TwoLeftSocks · 02/01/2017 18:44

I'll also be counting walking to school and work but we got out to the hills today (chilly but stunning) and think we did about 3 miles. Feels like more as I was having to keep up with our mountain goat boy.

I'm in. Did 14 miles today and yesterday but they were proper concerted effort walks. Struggle is the day to day miles especially when working. Need to make a proper effort of going for a walk in my lunch hour rather than just mindlessly trawling internet for an hour.

furrymuff · 02/01/2017 21:00

Managed 5 miles today, but back to work tomorrow, so it remains to be seen how keen I'll be to walk 2.74 miles in the dark - and it's icy outside!

How's everybody doing?
Adding up Jan 1st, 2nd and 3rd I have done 12 and a half miles so on track but not amazing
Shall we post weekly as an incentive?

I would like to do it too. I will use my Fitbit and count all my steps/ miles as part of my day. But I do like the idea of 'boots on' miles and shall try to do more.

I will aim for 20 miles a week. I work from home most days so have to force myself outside or pace up and down a bit to get the steps in.
On track so far this week but back at work now.

SubordinateThatClause · 07/01/2017 23:35

Have started trying to do 10,000 steps - so far have managed 23.5miles since 1st Jan. Not sure I'm going to be able to keep it up though. I'm taking it from my Fitbit app on phone which counts even when I leave me desk to go to the loo! Not sure that counts!!

Wildernesstips · 09/01/2017 07:01

I am trying to do this but am struggling to fit it in. I leave for work and return in the dark, and I generally only have 30 mins for lunch. However I like the idea and inspiration. I am only counting boots on miles.

First week done!
Feeling happy about it and fitter
Just need to organize (s) rest of my life better so I can justify time it takes
Jan 1st -3miles +
First proper week -30+ miles so on track at the moment and weight also going down which is a bonus!
The Fitbit challenges really help with motivation too

Week one completed. It's a good start with 24.6 miles according to Fitbit. Thus week will be harder working 5 days and 3 from home. Will aim for lunchtime walks.

It's good to hear everyone is doing well. Keep walking!

Ooh I'm in, signed up on FB a couple of days ago after spotting this thread. I manage a couple of 5 mile walks a week when I take my toddler to her swimming classes, but other than that normally I only manage 1.5 miles max a day. Yesterday I managed almost 3 miles just in the house (it is only a small house!), think that may have been down to being first day back at school for the teen so was running up and down the stairs to nag her to get shift on in the morning!!

Bin85 · 28/07/2017 16:38

Anyone else still counting?
I`m over 600 miles but that is all steps so not as good as it sounds
however I am walking more than last year.
