Is it possible? And can anyone recommend a training programme? Furthest I have run is 5k!

Thank you x

Definitely possible! Assuming you are running at the moment, you start your once a week long run at 3 miles, then gradually increase it each week, if you can get up to about 8 miles you will manage the extra two on the day. If possible, two other runs a week, with one some kind of speed session, like intervals or hill sprints.

Yes! I'm running a half marathon on a 6 week training plan. It will be fine!

Definitely. If you can run 5k/3 miles now, then just increase your long run by no less than 0.5 miles every week for 10 weeks.

Lovely thank you. I wasn't going to do it this year but my friend has entered me as a birthday present :) think she wants me to keep her company!

We are meeting up on Monday to run up some hills - hopefully work out a plan then.

I'm increasing my distance at the moment by using run walk run (google it). So far I've been injury free which is very unusual for me and it would be a risk if you are going to ramp up the training. It isn't really affecting my time much either. Might be worth trying to do shorter mid week runs normally and use run walk for the long ones this time round?

Posted too soon. Meant to say come and join the half marathon thread - lots of the usual suspects off the park run thread lurking and it is good to be able to comment on how it is going.
