What type of exercise to regain flexibility and strength?

I used to be a very active child - climbing trees etc. Fast forward to now (early 40s) and I have no upper body or core strength and I feel less flexible as time goes on.

I do a lot of walking and a lot of my working day is spent standing up (teacher).

What can I do to stop myself seizing up as I get older? I am a complete exercise novice and I have no clue as to what exercise does what. I'm not bothered about building aerobic fitness, just strength and flexibility.

I do Les Mills body balance and CX works at my gym . CX works is great for core strength. Body balance is a combination of yoga, Pilates and tai chi, great for flexibility and balance.

Yoga. Start with a beginners' class though, however fit you might be.

Thank you - I will check out both. I am not fit at all, so it would be beginners level for anything! Blush

swimming, dance. The social part of dance makes it very self-reinforcing.
