Pain on top of foot - Santa in training needs your help fast!!

I have developed a pain on top of my foot, just below my ankle. It basically feels as if I have tied my laces too tight.

It doesn't hurt when I'm not wearing my running shoes ie running around barefoot & foot is not swollen or bruised so I'm assuming its not something serious like a stress fracture. I think its probably to do with my shoes pressing on a nerve or tendon in that area.

Has anyone else had this? I'm wondering about some kind of padding or elastic laces to make shoes a bit more flexible.

Have got a big unmissable Santa race next weekend which is my debut 10k and have been training for ages - I don't want to miss it Sad

You can just lace your shoes differently.

I've had this with too much pressure on the top of my feet - the worst was with a pair of elastic laces of a different design to the ones I usually use

Do you need new trainers? They don't last forever - once they start to go, they become far less supportive.
