I'm a 'thumper' (running-related)

I make too much noise when I run as I land heavily. Is there any way I can improve my stride to land more lightly?

Focus on keeping your back straight and also on swinging your lower legs straight forward from the knee - most people swing their lower legs out slightly as they run which can cause heavy footsteps. A PT pointed this out to me and I was amazed at how lazy I was when I ran - actually picking up your feet better and swinging them straight made a huge difference to me! Good luck!

That sounds do-able - thanks Boutros Grin

I used to thump too. Really concentrating on a good forefoot landing and proper form has changed it, but its taken a lot of concentrating!

How strong are your core/upper legs? I was advised (and found it helpful) to do some exercises to strengthen these areas to help with picking up and planting feet more gently. Agree that a good gait/good form helps.
