My marathon magazine didn't fit through the letterbox!

Regular letter box but it didn't fit! I can't collect it from the Post Office tomorrow as I'm going away for the weekend.

What's the likelihood it's a rejection...?

TIA

Its a rejection alas - if you did the option to donate your entry fee, the winter top is in with your rejection mag.

MissFitt68 · 02/10/2015 19:46

I got a rejection email, no magazine even!

whatadrain · 02/10/2015 19:50

Aha thank you! I thought it was probably the case. I just couldn't imagine that the top would be too big to fit through the letter box!

Second rejection. Alas!

Oh no Miss Fit! I hope you get a charity place!

Are you going for a charity place whatadrain?

MissFitt68 · 02/10/2015 19:56

I ran it this year so not too disappointed really, but no, not going the charity route

whatadrain · 02/10/2015 20:01

Yes I will go for a charity place. Got some fundraising options but it's a tough slog. I'm still puzzled by the letterbox thing as I had the winter top last year and it fitted through the letterbox no problem!

Rejection here too (email) - that makes 23 times we've applied for a ballot place in the London Marathon in the last 10 years and not once have we been successful. I think my address is on a ballot blacklist, as we've never been successful in the Ride 100 ballot either....

whatadrain · 02/10/2015 20:24

Sorry to hear about your rejections, SweetestThing. An email just seems so miserable! Sad

I got both the rejection magazine and the rejection email. After 8 consecutive years of rejection in the ballot I think they might be trying to hammer it home this year Sad

SixtyFootDoll · 02/10/2015 23:33

I got my 6th rejection. Made worse by someone I know getting a place first time and they don't even run. But ' it's on my bucket list' . Oh do fuck off dear!

thesnailandthewhale · 03/10/2015 19:23

Sixfootdoll, why shouldn't that person have as much right to a place as anyone else? Hmm

SixtyFootDoll · 03/10/2015 21:57

Of course they're for a right snail. I'm just jealous. Thought that may have come across in my post.

thesnailandthewhale · 03/10/2015 22:20

Ah okay, sorry Sixtyfootdoll Smile Maybe its my inner nervousness that crept out - I only started running after Christmas this year and applied fully expecting a rejection ... and got in Blush
I have spent all day today researching training plans / nutrition / general marathon advice. I'm so nervous but so excited all at once Grin

Salene · 03/10/2015 22:22

I thought if u got 5 years in a row rejection you then get a place..?

I'm lucky I got in 3 years in a row , 2 floras and then the 1st virgin one

SixtyFootDoll · 03/10/2015 23:22

Snail you are so lucky and now I am jealous of you!!

It used to be that if you applied I think 5 yrs on the trot you'd automatically get a place but they've stopped that now as they've let more people apply.

BooSurprise · 05/10/2015 13:56

snail maybe we could be virtual training buddies?! I also got a place, I only got back to running in April after 2 babies in 2years, and I never ever thought I'd get a ballot place, and now I have, and the general response has been- either not fair, or/and a general disbelief that I will actually be able to do- so now I'm going to prove them all wrong and flip them the bird! Grin

jorahmormont · 05/10/2015 13:59

Just out of interest, why do people not go for the charity places if they get rejected?

CMOTDibbler · 05/10/2015 14:05

Because the thought of having to raise £2000 is really stressful

jorahmormont · 05/10/2015 14:08

Ahh makes sense, I'd forgotten the amounts some of them ask for in minimum donation, especially for something like the London marathon. I panicked about raising £200 for the Birmingham half a few years ago!

Tyrannosaurus · 05/10/2015 14:10

I'm still waiting to find out either way. Can't stand the suspense, although I'm sure it'll be a rejection like every other year.

wanderingwondering · 05/10/2015 14:14

Rejection email here too Sad
At least 3 people from my running club have got in on the ballot. Out of about about 50 who applied which I think seems pretty good going?

Notonthestairs · 05/10/2015 14:29

I am still waiting to hear something (anything!) and its driving me a little crazy. I was practically camping out by my letterbox this morning.

I've made 8 applications over the course of the last 13 years. I should be used to the rejection letters by now!

I would apply for a charity place but I have done some other stuff for charity over the course of this year and dont really feel I can hassle anyone for more money for what is, to be quite honest, a bit of a personal dream.
Ah well.
