Had my first Kickboxing class on Friday. Was great but hard work! Haven't done press ups and sit ups for many years and boy am I paying for it today! Everything hurts! Every movement hurts! So hoping the old adage of ' no pain no gain' will be true!Smile

Any advice from seasoned pros for a newbie? anything that might help for next week?

Continuing to do it regularly will help. That said, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone sometimes to the point where you ache after will make you gain fitness too

Go back and back again and again...the pain will reduce.I exercise regularly but even when I do anew gym class I hurt all over, every exercise does different things but it's all good!

BTW it doesn't necessarily get easier - you just get used to it. A friend of mine is a fantastic runner - she regularly wins local races. But the day after a race she'll be struggling to walk, and during it it will be absolutely all pain.

My best race performance of last year was utter, utter hell for a good quarter-to-a-third of it.

Like you said - no pain no gain….

DOMS are the pits but I find that I never hurt again like the first time unless I take a long break from something. My legs currently hurt after my first outdoor run in 7 months even though I have used the treadmill in the gym on and off in that time. You will never find it easy but the fitter/better you get the harder you push yourself. When you find something easy that's when you need to up your game or find something new to challenge yourself.

Keep going back, it will get easier. Hot baths are about the best thing for DOMS (cold helps too but a cold bath is nowhere near as enjoyable! Smile).
