It's fairly usual for road / X bikes to come without pedals, especially above entry level. The reason being that there quite a few clipless pedal systems out there and most cyclists will have a preference.

Of course you can still fit flat pedals or toe clips although IMO toe clips are a PITA

I am 5'2" and I had a frame custom built. The total cost of the frame and the rest of the bike was about the same as an off the shelf one, and I got to pick my favourite colours Smile

I did the same as Unexpected. Best money I've ever spent. Was more than £500 though.

magic amongst my friends and family it is fairly common to have a bike worth more than your car. Especially the sum total of your bike stable.

I'd say my bikes are worth more than my car. A single bike service and overhaul can cost more than a car service!

Oh apologies. I must not have looked at the Luath 700 and just assumed that it was like all the other islabikes. A Luath would definitely be a good option. Smile

I'm 5'1" and I have a Felt 95W road bike which was about £500-£600. I found that a lot of the women's bikes I tried were exactly the same proportions as the men's bikes, just smaller frames and different paint jobs so I had trouble with the reach. Felt's women's bikes are designed by women.

On the other hand, those of us around 5' definitely have an advantage in sales, since men's small framed bikes are usually the last to go. I got my La Pierre Technic mountain bike in a small frame for about £500 in Chain Reaction's sale when it should have been around £900-£1000 so it's worth keeping an eye out on the sales online if you're comfortable checking the fit yourself or know someone who can.
