Summer 2015 triathletes….

Anyone else? We had a thread last summer so thought I'd start a new one. Please join in whether you're just contemplating your first one or a seasoned triathlete!

Did my first season last year - 2 sprints and 2 olympic. I am panicking as signed up for half ironman in June. Winter was plagued with injuries and now although I'm back to training I'm not nearly as fit as I was and it doesn't feel like long enough to get there. Will give it a good go though. Planning a Sprint in early May and an Olympic end of May as warm-up races.

Come and join me!

Good stuff Iamblossom - that's a nice confidence builder, and good to practice the swim to bike transition too.

I've given up cycling outdoors for the foreseeable - I'm 11+3, showing already (wtf) and London traffic scares me so I just feel too vulnerable. Still running and swimming though and may do an open water swim at the end of September that I entered ages ago.

Glad to hear its going well with the pg TriJo.

I'm doing my first duathlon on the 20th which could be 'fun'. But next Sunday, ds is doing his longest ever ride - a nice flat 48 miler.

Well done on a nice brick session Blossom.

Thanks guys!

Then went out with dh on Saturday afternoon and did the full cycle and the run. Found the run very hard. Will do it again next Saturday afternoon, and do some cycling in the gym this week and try a few road runs.

Not worried about the swim, am a swimmer, and can do the 400m in 7 minutes 15 seconds, not sure how fast that is in triathlon terms but the swim is my strongest section. The bike is definitely my weakest, I am verrrryyyy slow.

Kakking it tbh!!!!

I had a bit of a disappointing race on Sunday - I broke the 55 min barrier for the 10k again, but only just. Was a tough course though and the wind was in my face for 4 miles... Ugh. Looking forward to the next one though, it's my favourite race and should be easier than the one I did on Sunday, so definitely looking for a PB!

Is everyone done for this summer?

Can't decide what to do for next year. Really need to get my skates on entry wise if I'm going to do a half ironman again. Motivation levels weren't great this year though so need to give myself a kick up the bum.

Yes, I just have a 5k run in Texas Grin and maybe a cycle event left to do.

Am holding off on next years event planning until I know about my VLM ballot result as that will make a big difference to winter training.

Today, I am mostly hurting. I fell over on run2 of my duathlon on Sunday and have some really nasty grazes.

TriJo · 22/09/2015 14:12

I'm doing an open water swim on Sunday - dropped from the 3k to the 1,500m though because the 3k seems like too much effort at 15 weeks along. Looking forward to it in a weird sort of way.

Baby is due in March so hoping to be able to consider doing one or two late season (possibly August, but more likely September) shorter events next year. Hubby is very supportive though thankfully!

Murphy's law states that after 5 rejections I'll get a ballot spot in London for the year there isn't a snowball's chance in hell of doing it. Will defer to 2017 and buy a running pushchair if the miracle happens.

I'm just running for the rest of the year, I think. Going to try and get to the pool a bit more though - I noticed my local pool have been advertising adult improvement lessons and one of the items on the 'focus list' was triathlon swim training. Might look into that once I have this half marathon out of the way. I ran 13.2 miles on Sunday so I know I can do the distance, just need to hope the time can be improved upon.
