Help! Need a new pair of running shoes

I have a normal arch and don't think I am an overpronator, run quite heavily on my feet. Can you let me know your comfiest road running shoes please?

You really need to go to a running shop and get fitting and advice from them.
I'm a heavy lander (in spite of really trying to work on that), and do best in Asics, but thats just my feet

i'm marathon training (VLM) and had a right bloody carry on with shoes, i went and had gait analysis etc, fitted with shoes which had to be exchanged due to poor quality uppers (more toe wore through from inside out in under 50 miles) - exchanged by shop (FOC) but the design had been upgraded and now I don't think they are the best shoes for me!

what should I do? stick with these ones for another 9 weeks or risk yet another shoe change?

I'd go to a shop, I recently got fitted but they gave me blisters so they swapped them after refitting me.

I'm a neutral foot and like a baby elephant, I got asics nimbus 16s. Lots of cushioning. Just a shame about the hideous pink colour.

What sort of shops do fitting?

I've bought shoes from both Sweatshop and Run4it although the latter only has branches in Scotland I think. Sweatshop were good as they had a promise to replace the shoes if not suitable within 30 days even if you had used them outside, I don't know if they still do this. I had been running in Brooks happily but changed to Asics when Brooks out of stock. I didn't get on with them on longer runs and Sweatshop were great and swapped them no problem.
Any specialist running shop should be able to do gait analysis and advise on best shoes but worth finding out what return policy is ( I think most take back if you have only worn inside).

Jenny I wouldn't like to run a marathon in shoes I wasn't happy with. Well, I've never run a marathon but I've done quite a few HMs and same principle!
If the design has changed and you do not feel they are right for you definitely take back, don't just put up with it or you might get injured. It's worth bearing in mind that some brands of shoe have been reducing their drop in newer versions without making that clear, which can adversely affect some runners.

Vivobarefoot are the comfiest shoes I have ever run in....

I ended up having gait analysis at my local running shop and bought some Asics shoes with a small amount of support, as I am a slight overpronator. They are comfortable but did cost around £30 more than what I could have bought them for online! But at least now I know what shoes are suited to me for next time I need to change so can go for the online option.
