Flashy light for night time running recommendations please!

Just did my first dark run and was a bit scared towards the end (I ran from my town to my parents' home in outlying village - nice and lit in town - bloody dark outside!)

I have high visibility and reflective stuff to wear but thinking about adding a flashing light as well. Can anyone recommend a good one that's not too pricey please? Also, best place to fix it to myself?

Thanks in advance

I haven't tried it myself but I saw one in decathlon this weekend - it had a strap to wear with lights on the front and back. I was going to have a closer look and buy it but we'd spent far too long getting stuff for the DC and everyone was very very fed up!

I would prefer a static light rather than a flashing one as you'd be constantly visible rather than 50% visible.

Sports direct sell some that I've seen

Seconding Decathlon, they sell flashing yellow led arm bands which are £10 but really good.

If you're actually on the road, I'd go for a static and a flashy, like a cyclist. However, if there are pavements, then a flashy should be fine. Flashies do catch the eye better, but statics are better for picking out pot holes. You could check out your local bike shop too.

Thanks Blue, I am sometimes without pavement so that sounds like a plan.

Alpkit do great head torches that are very reasonably priced. Mine has a white light at the front that has high, low and flashing options and a red light at the back that is static or flashes. I tend to have the white light on constantly and the red light flashing. When I run with a group mine is usually the most powerful light :-)
