Anyone else find Bikram yoga really annoying and silly

I've tried a few classes on an intro deal. I find the constant yakking of the instructor really irritating. And they appear to recite a script so they are always yakking the same thing! It's not nearly so athletic as power vinyasa - you just sweat massively because the room is boiling. And the whole place smells like hot sweaty rubber yoga mats! Not to mention the dullness factor of it being exactly the same thing every time. I can't understand the popularity. Anyone else had this experience? I'm going back to my usual favourite place at the end of the week.

I do practise yoga but never tried bikram so I cant say.
Yoga is a broad church, so many different styles and ways to use it, something for everyone imo
horses for courses Wink

I love hot yoga but like you not bikram so much for the sameness every day, I prefer vinyasa ashtanga which is even better hot. Our hot yoga studio smells nice though with incense and they have dat chillout shit playing in the background to take your mind off whether anyone is smelly or farting or whatever.

I went again this morning (as the lessons are still free with my intro deal) and found the instructor saying the same things all over again even more annoying! I'll be back at power vinyasa from this weekend for sure. I don't think the people are smelly particularly, but the heat and humidity mixed with yoga mats and carpets just isn't very pleasant!

I don't actually think bikram is really yoga - there's not much that's yogic about it. Oh well, each to their own. I'm just a bit surprised it's so popular.
