What kind of exercise can I do?

I really want to do some exercise but am at a loss as to what I can actually do.

I am only in my mid-40s but have arthritis in my hip which makes in painful to walk or run or do some swimming stokes.

I also have prolapsed vertebrae in my upper and lower spine. The one in the upper spine is causing shoulder and arm pain which make things like ergs and weights very difficult. It also makes swimming quite painful.

The lower back problems make cycling painful (which I used to do a lot).

There must be something out there I can do. Oh wise ones, tell me what it might be.

You could try pilates, feldenkrais or alexander technique - all of which strengthen the core muscles and might help you to use them to compensate for fragility elsewhere.

For cardio - can you cycle?

How about aqua aerobics? That's usually very gentle.
